Pioneer

Dilli Haat INA has been redefined to meet the essentials of an ever-growing popularity. Some of these changes have been made to facilitate fluid movements, provide appropriate hygiene and offer enhanced security. A new toilet block with high standards of sanitation and hygiene has been constructed. This also corresponds to the latest Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative. Jitender Singh Singh Tomar, Minister of law and Justice, Home, Tourism and Art & Culture, along with Alka lamba, parliamentary secretary to Minister of Tourism, inaugurated the newly built toilet block, a new exhibition hall at Dilli Haat INA. Ramesh Tiwari, MD and CEO, Delhi Tourism and Ravi Dadhich, GM, Delhi Tourism, were also present. The inauguration ceremony coincided with celebrations of the 21st anniversary of Dilli Haat INA.

Tomar congratulated and lauded the efforts of Delhi Tourism and said that the other two Dilli Haat’s at Janakpuri and Pitampura should further be enhanced in vibrancy. With close to 3,000 visitors flocking Dilli Haat INA each day, the popularity meter of the place has ever been soaring. To facilitate such requirements, a entry and tickets from the rear-gate of Dilli Haat INA will also be opened. Tiwari said, “Dilli Haat INA is a clean and hygienic venue with modern facilities. Delhi Tourism strives for a memorable experience of visitors and we are fully aware of public needs and are always open to suggestions for further enhancing their experience.”

Spread over an area of 6.27 acres, Dilli Haat INA presents a picturesque traditional village atmosphere. Built on the storm water drain, it is one of the first ever bazaars promoting food, crafts, culture and talent. Dilli Haat is a barrier free, eco-friendly and differently-abled friendly complex. There are around 166 craft stalls and 25 food stalls serving cuisine from various states of India including Navdanya which is one of a kind popularising organic food. In addition to that there is an amphitheatre that stages various cultural shows as a part of weekend festivities under the banner of Dilli Haat Utsav and also on festivals like Holi, Diwali, Teej, Christmas and Id. Dilli Haat also provides ancillary facilities like banking/ATM, a souvenir shop to carry home exclusive mementos and seasonal craft workshops for students of all age.
