Shyam Yadav, winner of Dance India Dance Season 4, tells Divya Kaushik that his win will help him make inroads into Bollywood
For someone who has dedicated last eight years to only learning dance, honour at a public platform is a big feat. Mumbai boy Shyam Yadav was announced the winner of reality show Dance India Dance Season 4 on Zee TV recently and the
18-year-old says that win has opened doors of opportunities for him in Bollywood. “I always aspired to be a part of Bollywood and Bollywood dancing has been my interest since childhood. DID is an amazing platform and we have so many examples of contestants whose careers have taken off from this platform. I have been a part of judge Muddasar Khan’s dance academy and share a great rapport with him. I would like to continue learning with him and gain experience to perfect my dancing skills,” says Yadav and credits his family’s support for his win.
Yadav says that Bollywood and Hip Hop have been his strength but thanks to the show that now he has mastered dance forms like contemporary and Jazz. “One thing that I have learnt from the show is that you have to be a complete package to excel. Whatever you do, you need to do it with concentration and focus to master it. The good thing about my participation in the show is that I got to meet so many masters and I have learnt some basics from them. The little things that they shared with me will guide me in my career forever,” says Yadav, who now wants to continue learning dance while completing his studies. “As I said I have been learning dance since I was 10-year-old I have paid equal attention to dance and studies. I would complete my studies and will continue doing shows. I have been flooded with offers. Thanks to DID that I will be travelling abroad for the first time to do a show. I am a star overnight, I have people recognising me on streets, but I know that this is just a beginning and I have a long way to go,” he says.
Apart from winning Sunheri Taqdeer Ki Topi, Shyam walked away with a brand new Maruti Celerio car and a three- year contract with Zee TV.
