A group of Delhi University students will stage a freeze mob at CP today on women rights
The term flash mob is passe and freeze mob is the recent craze. Freeze mob is a staged event at a public place by a group of people to draw mass attention, mostly to deliver a message or promote a cause. Freeze mobs have been used as a tool by DU students to teach people how to respect women. The Education Tree is the group of students that aims to redefine the existing education system. “We use various unique media like street plays, metro theatre (plays performed in the metro) and freeze mob. Under this method we first target a heavily populated area and then a group of people (approximately 60-70) take a freeze there for five to ten minutes holding the posters that carry important information. The freezes that we take are powerful and compliment the messages written on the poster. This campaign was launched last year and so far we have conducted more than 1,000 freeze mobs across the city. People initially get surprised and then they slowly start reading the messages on the posters. These messages include important helplines, information about various organisations, mobile applications, laws related to women safety and also some powerful (and sarcastic) one liners to depict the hypocrisy of the society, encouraging them to take a stand,” shared Smriti Singhal, a Delhi University student and co-founder of The Education Tree.
The group has organised a freeze mob today at CP under the campaign Jo Mera Hai. Wo Mera Hai (My body. My Rights).
