Party's life will be missed

Sunanda Tharoor’s socialite friends remember her as the most fun-loving person one could have around. Dancing on the deck, diving in the pool, she was up for all...

After a long meet and greet session over cocktails and canapés, there was a quick settling down. Couple of minutes to the show, the designer hurried to the front row requesting some guests to shift to the following rows. Nobody minded but the curiosity to know who the special guest was, lingered on until Sunanda Pushkar Tharoor entered and took her seat. “This was common in the parties she went to. But such a lovable soul she was that people wanted to make her feel special. And she loved that and reciprocated in her own ways,” said one of the socialites, who often interacted with Sunanda. She added, “Sunanda was a fun-loving, cheerful personality. She loved meeting people, but she was not to be seen anywhere and everywhere. She was very particular about the events she attended.” But in the last few months, Sunanda was missing from the party scene. Her dear friend Poonam Sharma told us that the reason was her frequent travels and her disease. “In the last few months she had lost weight and she used to get mild fever every night. So we didn't see her much," she informed.

People remember her for being high on life and sometimes over-the-top exuberant behaviour. The last party, which reportedly Sunanda rocked, was in Goa with designers Rohit Gandhi, Rahul Khanna and Rohit Bal. Her pictures from the party are a recent hit on her Facebook page and there are comments like, “loved her energy, it was crazy. She jumped in the pool and danced on the deck.” Rohit Gandhi said that they had fun in Goa on December 30, 2013. Sharma also had a last conversation with her through mobile texts on new year's eve. “She was very strong and like every other friend shared a few things but nothing appeared to be major,” she said and like a dear friend defended Sunanda and said she loved meeting people but was not into clubbing. “Her closed ones would know how much she loved  being at home, too,” she added.

Sunanda was as much known and seen in Mumbai as in Delhi. Reportedly she was good friends with Amisha Patel and jewellery designer Farah Ali Khan.

One of the regular party goers shared that she made friends easily. From journos to PR people, no one was different. “She was obsessed with the perception of her image. At a party she went several times to the ladies room for the touch-ups and was conscious of the paparazzi.”
