During her maiden trip to India, Ukrainian DJ Miss K8 explains that back in her country, hardcore music has not evolved completely. She believes that as India is the next hub for music festivals, she can foresee hardcore getting bigger here
Being at the number one position as a female artiste of hardcore music, Miss K8 is also known as ‘goddess of hardcore’. With her stage performances on songs like Masters of hardcore, Dominator, Syndicate, Defqon, et al. she has been appreciated by her fans across the world.
What are you going to perform for your Indian fans during the festivalIJ
New World order. I’m going to play some of my most favourite hardcore music. Among them would be the Metropolis of Massacre, the official Dominator festival anthem, something from Raise and Revolt and master of hardcore tracks.
Is the genre of Hardcore music evolvingIJ
Unfortunately, the hardcore scene in Ukraine is not that big as for example in Holland, Germany or Belgium. Our hardcore history started not so long ago. Only in 2008, we had the first international hardcore DJ in Kiev. Since then, promoters of Ukraine have started organising events and inviting more and more hardcore DJs to visit Ukraine. We have an unforgettable atmosphere of hardcore events, that’s why many DJs love playing for the crowd.
Where do you see it (hardcore music) in IndiaIJ Are people aware of itIJ
I have heard Indians love music and dance. And it’s becoming one of the hub for many music festivals. Hardcore music is evolving everyday, it’s intense, energetic and it has a lot of adrenaline rush. I’m sure youngsters already know what hardcore music is all about and after Hardcore:Invasion, the hardcore music events will be happening a lot more in India.
A lot of people are nowadays obsessed with EDM(electronic dance music) and other forms of electronic music. Where do you see hardcore music in comparison to EDMIJ
According to me, the future looks terrific for both hardcore music and EDM.
We have not seen a lot of women DJs in the field. How do you sustain in the competitive industryIJ
It’s all about how dedicated your fans are and how strongly they want to support you. It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman.
