Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna are looking forward to winning the season 8 title of Nach Baliye. They tell Shrabasti Mallik that the rumours of them cheating in the polygraph test were false
Their love story started in the Bigg Boss house and blossomed on the stage of Nach Baliye season 8, when Upen Patel went down on his knees to propose to Karishma Tanna. The duo have been known to be the most experimentative on the stage, pulling off difficult choreographies. Right from their first performance on Jeena, their piece where they were dipped in chocolate to the robotic dance, they have always tried to deliver something unique.
Just days before they compete for the title, the couple spent their time “interacting with fans.” looking chic in a grey jacket, Patel looked happy about reaching the finals, “which is very unexpected.” He explained, “When we entered the show, we just wanted to explore our horizons. We wanted to know each other better and see how far we connect.”
So far, things have been working out for them and Karishma feels that whatever will happen, will happen for the best. “We are the only couple on the show who have pushed our boundaries. We have performed salsa, tango and flamenco and these dance forms takes years to master, but we had only two days to get everything right. Every week we have given something new to the audience,” she pointed out.
They recalled their most difficult performance as the one where they had to dance like robots. The choreography was specially taxing for Tanna who explained, “To make a robot move, the body has to be very stiff and hard and it as particularly difficult for a girl to stiffen up and make such short and precise moves.” The duo have injured themselves numerous times trying to learn new steps and making that perfect lift but they choose not to complain. “The show is about how well you are with your partner, it is not a platform to highlight your injuries and make a hue and cry about them,” added Patel.
According to them the politics, the gossip and the regular activities in the Nach Baliye house does not affect them. They were quite vocal about their opinion, “After you have been in the Bigg Boss house, no challenge seems difficult or tormenting enough. Whatever we come across at the Nach Baliye house seems trivial.”
There were also rumours that they cheated during the polygraph test but Patel brushed aside all hearsay mentioning that if they had indeed cheated the polygraph, or the lie detection, test then they would have won all the taskthat they were assigned to do. Tanna added, “It is funny to hear people allege that and not realise the fact that in all the tasks that we were asked to do, we won only one.”
