Sana Saeed aka Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai chatted with Goter Gangkak about her expectations from Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and her journey after first film
last we saw her drooling in Shah Rukh Khan’s arms was when she played an eight-year-old trying hard to make his dad reunite with his college romance, as per the wish of her deceased mom. This was in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. After a long time, we saw her on screen again in King Khan’s arms, but as a young lady. Seems Sana Saeed has grown like topsy. little Anjali from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai isn’t little anymore. She was last seen in the Student of the Year, and now Sana is a part of the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ) as a wild card entry.
The 24-year-old’s entry in the show has created quite a flutter around her. This being her first appearance on screen post Student of The Year, she sounded excited about the show. It seems to have given her the right push in her career, she believes. “JDJ is a popular show and I feel TV has high viewership. Being a part of the show will give me a good exposure and platform for future. And to shoot with Karan Johar on the sets again is like cherry on the top,” she beamed.
Sana does not have any professional training in dance. “I took few jazz classes here and there to give myself a head start in the show. Apart from it I don’t recall any significant memories of dancing. But I have fond memories shooting for the song Disco Deewane. I got to work with super talented Remo and he choreographed a small part where I did krumping. It was such an amazing experience,” she said. Hrithik Roshan seems to be her favorite in Bollywood when it comes to dancing. When asked to pick her favourite contestant in the show, she is all praises for lauren Gottlieb. “lauren is my favourite. She is just mind-blowing and such a fabulous dancer. Dancing is her forte and I don’t think I can ever match up to her standard of dancing.”
In the show, she will be seen matching steps with choreographer Tushar Kalia. “Tushar is an amazing dancer. I love working with him and have so much fun rehearsing with his team. In the past few days only I have learned names of dance forms that I was completely unaware of. Basically, contemporary dancing is his forte and I prefer Bollywood dancing. I have been pushing him to choreograph more Bollywood numbers for the performance, which is a new experience for him as well.”
life after Kuch Kuch Hota Hain has been nothing but normal for her. Her parents were insistent that she should pursue education first. After her graduation she was certain to give acting a shot. Few years down the line Student of the Year happened and brought her to public notice again. When asked about her future plans the bubbly soul opened up, “I am reading a few scripts but none of them happens before October. Right now I want to concentrate only on the show. I like to do one big thing at a time.”
