Fashion Design Council of India ties up with a mobile brand, launches a camera phone. Unnati Joshi reports

We caught actor Boman Irani at his candid best. Wishing everyone a happy Navroz (Parsi New Year), he started  taking photographs of the waiting crowd with his latest smartphone. And then had the spectators roar with laughter when he jocularly said,

“For those who don’t know me, I am an actor.  Just to make all you guys jealous, I work with the most beautiful woman in the country. Don’t feel too bad, I play the role of her father. And daddy gets the tightest hug, our heroes are useless anyway.”

The actor, who was also a professional photographer once, said, “A few days ago I was asked to take some photographs for the launch of this model. They came to me with the phone and said that they would send someone for ‘tech support’ so that I could maximise the use of the features. I then told them not to do so. People who are hobby photographers may not have access to a technical person every time to explain things to them. I told them  that I would discover it myself. That’s what an artiste does. And that’s what I am doing today.” Boman, who is now a grandfather to a 40-day-old baby, took five different pictures using the mobile phone by way of endorsement.

Actress Sushmita Sen also made an appearance, saying little else but good things about the brand which is tying up with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Apparently, the camera phone will be used to  record every sizzle of the next edition of the fashion week next year.
