Alarm of Silence — Power of an Unheard Voice is Manik Munde’s recent book. Manik is a writer and a gifted poet who writes in Marathi, Hindi and English. He is, in fact, one of the very few contemporary Marathi writers who are equally at ease in Hindi-Urdu and are regulars on the Hindi-Urdu literary circuit. He has authored books titled Titiksha, Aina Muaina and many others on subjects relating to social and political realities.

Alarm of Silence is about the power of unheard voice, self-realisation, a voice which an individual hears in every moment of his life but is far from realising its veiled power and sacredness. The realisation of Alarm of Silence becomes clear after only a few poems when one co-relates life realities with the poems in the book. It’s a book to fall in love with.

This book is a collection of poetry that throws lights on the various faces and shades of life. It talks of the mysteries of life and death, triumph and defeat, heaven and hell. The poet in his collections says the ultimate objective of life or birth is Salvation. Birth and death are mere repetitions and sources to the ultimate objective of birth. The poet is alarmed by the destruction spreading through this trembling world, where men torment men for pleasure.

The book was introduced by Pritish Nandi making a mention on how the Indian poets of  colonial language have made their mark in English poetry and this book Alarm of Silence will be another excellent book authored by an Indian poet in the league.

During the launch Manik provided the glimpse of the book and read one of the poems from the collections, last Man last Chance and left the rest on the readers to blow the Alarm of Silence.
