Images she captured during her morning stroll are reborn on her canvas. friends say she was born with a brush in hand.  “Yeah, its true,” she laughs.  “I try to capture the beauty of nature as much as I can in my camera during my morning walk. Those images inspire me enough to reinterpret them my way,” says Prenita Dutt, who showcased her paintings at a  solo exhibition on the theme Jwala, currently being showcased at the Indian Habitat Centre.

Jwala, which is the eighth solo exhibition of Prenita, exhibits an amalgamation of colours and energy, vibrancy and serenity. We saw sunshine,  peeking blossoms, a mountain in spring time and rainbow falling from the sky. As the artist says, “Art is an ability to express genuinely what is going on within you. It can be anything and in any form, it can be colours or abstract. There is no right or wrong in art. For every artist creates from a very special place in his/her  heart.”

Elaborating on the title, Prenita says, “Jwala is a kind of energy that makes something happen. You might have hidden potential in you but unless you realise it, you won’t get a tangible result.” She further says, “This is for the first time that I am using Jwala as the theme of my exhibition. My paintings are myriad thoughts and expressions, where different colours are used in sharp contrast to the other, signifying immense potential and playfulness of the human mind”.

Prenita, who is also trained counsellor, explains why this show is different from others. “This  is different because it deals hugely with an internal process of magic that exists within all living things. The reality that binds all the living creatures is beautiful. It’s amazing  to realise that the energy or Jwala that sustains the mighty oak and  the smallest blade of grass also flows through me,” she adds.

She has also been working for disabled people and training some of them in art. The exhibition concludes on September 16.
