Taj Palace opens Capital Kitchen, the latest gastronomic address for epicureans
The culinary concept of the new restaurant is based on comfort food with the menu invoking a sense of nostalgia and timelessness. It is highlighted by an array of authentic, flavourful and classic comfort foods served home style. The restaurant is a confluence of cuisines from across the globe - signature dishes from iconic Taj properties like Cobb Salad from Taj Pierre Hotel, New York, Chicken Bunny Chow from Taj Cape Town, New England lobster Roll from Taj Bosten, Fish and Chips from St James Court, london to name a few. It will also have live cooking stations offering Indian, European and Asian cuisines.
Explaining the concept, Amit Rana, the Executive Sous chef at Taj Palace, told us, “In a city known as a gastronomical firmament, Capital Kitchen is set to shine as the newest culinary destination offering an exceptional dining experience to guests. Capital Kitchen, as the name suggests, is a reference to Delhi and the kitchen being its central food hub. The ambience exudes simplicity, transparency and genuineness. We shall also invigorate the restaurant with engrossing lIVE performances over the weekends to create an environment infused with vibrancy and effervescence.”
Capital Kitchen boasts of a distinctive bar that will showcase the creative translation of the liquid chef Joel Scholtens. Each signature cocktail will represent the passion, knowledge and respect for the art of mixology. In addition, cold pressed juices made from fresh produce of organic ingredients will be available.
The décor, with its heightened ceiling, gives the place a luxurious spacious appeal while deep mahogany dark wood work depicts a classic yet contemporary setting. The restaurant has hues of gold, bronze and copper.
On how the new address is different from other Taj favourites, the chef said, “It is different because of its authentic recipes made from indigenous ingredients, centralised interactive bar offering signature cocktails and live performances. Evenings here represent a social gastro pub setting with hip and alternative music over infused and experimented cocktails put together by our polished bartenders, the alfresco overlooking the nine-hole putting greens and the expansive pool.”
Sharing his excitement on the launch, Gaurav Pokhariyal, General Manager, Taj Palace, New Delhi, said, “We are delighted to launch Capital Kitchen that will offer authentic classics from across the globe in a format that showcases specialities from the city alongside some of our own signature Taj recipes. The place exudes vibrancy and effervescence coupled with service that is simple, warm and sincere. We hope our guests like the newest offering.”
