Irrfan Khan talks on the controversy around his exit from Welcome To Karachi
Irrfan Khan, who is in a news for Vashu Bhagnani’s Welcome To Karachi, clears the air saying that he amicably parted ways with the producer, owing to creative differences. According to a source close to Irrfan, the producers were informed well in advance about the actor not being part of the film.
“Why would I do something of this sort to a producer. I had been involved with Welcome to Karachi right from the scripting stage, which is about a year-and-a-half, when there were no producers. When Vashuji came on board as the producer, he wanted to start immediately. But I felt we were under prepared. I suggested a delay in the shoot, which would buy us some time to plan things,” said the actor who was last seen in Gunday and recent release Haider.
“Welcome to Karachi is a character-based film and it needs good actors who can get the Karachi accent right. I didn’t think we were ready with the climax either. But they were impatient to go ahead with the shoot.” To which the producer had reportedly said, “Whether you work in the film or not, we are okay with it,” he added.
This attitude led Irrfan to walk out from the project. later, he had even agreed to do a cameo in the film. “I even returned the money I had received for the shoot,” he added. Moreover, Irrfan was informed at the last moment to attend mahurat shot.
Recently, Vashu Bhagnani made no qualms in expressing his disappointment, when Irrfan left the team of Welcome To Karachi, stranded in london after he refused to fly to UK to complete the shoot schedule citing date issues. Vashu had even mentioned that it would be difficult for him to find a new actor who could fill in for Irrfan at such short notice.
