Salma Agha's darling Sasheh says her mom has given her a couple of acting tips. K Bhardwaj reports
Years ago, Salma Agha became an overnight sensation with her debut film Nikaah but couldn’t translate her success into other projects. Her daughter Sasheh Agha is now taking maiden step in Bollywood with Aurangzeb.
She acknowledges this fact humbly, but said she was here to say. “I am really excited about my debut. I always wanted to be an actor and can say I don’t wish to fade with time,” Sasheh asserted. That’s probably why young Agha has chosen to play a character who is exactly opposite to her personality.
“I want to position myself as a versatile actor. I am playing a bold character in this movie. If Arjun (Kapoor) is a brat, I am no less than him. In fact, I am more dominating,” said the 21-year-old actor who will be doing steamy scenes in Aurangzeb. “I don’t want to typecast myself. I don’t want the audience to think that I am only suitable for particular roles,” she said.
Agha’s mother, who disappeared from tinsel town gradually, has advised the daughter to do films she feels confident about. “The only thing my mother told me was that I should be in tune with my work. I must not compromise. So I will do only what I believe in,” she said. What was her mother’s reaction when Sasheh told her that she would join the film industryIJ “She has always been supportive. She was very happy. I was always told to follow my heart,” the daughter shared.
Sasheh said that she was not convinced with Aurangzeb earlier but lapped it up after understanding the strength of the character. “Though it was a film by Yash Raj, I was apprehensive. later I realised it was a good film,” she said. How did that happenIJ
“Aditya Chopra called me for auditions during 2010. It was just to check my abilities. He was impressed and agreed for my launch pad. But he also said it has to be a hot character, because people would compare her to my mother,” she said.
Agha has been trained by actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya. The actress also shared that she has signed a three-film contract with Yash Raj Films but couldn’t divulge details yet.
