For providing better health services to the stakeholders covered under ESI Scheme, a series of Health Reforms Agenda under ESIC 2.0 including plan of extending coverage of ESI Scheme in the States/UTs of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur and Andaman & Nicobar Island were launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister of India during the Indian labour Conference. Prime minister had very kindly given direction to implement all Health Reforms Agenda within the stipulated time and has fixed extending the ESI coverage to the above mentioned states within a stipulated time frame. Pursuant to the direction of prime minister, the scheme has been started in Mizoram and in the other states it is likely to be implemented by the end of the year.
Presently, the ESI Scheme is implemented in 31 States/Union Territories. Now, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur and Andaman & Nicobar Island are being covered under ESI Scheme, under the close/day-to-day supervision of Deepak Kumar, director general, ESIC.
