It was Salman Khan versus Shah Rukh Khan on Twitter again. While the trailer of Happy New Year garnered appreciation for its action sequences, Salman, looking dapper in a pilot's uniform, stole the attention in the Bigg Boss teaser
There is definitely some good dose of copied action and corny humour coming our way. After watching the trailer of Happy New Year (HNY) we totally trust Farah Khan’s copying ability. For the twitterati, who were privileged to have the first look of the film, the action and cuts, are too similar to Danny Ocean’s heist films and Tom Cruise’s Mission:Impossible-Ghost Protocol. Dubai lends a spectacular backdrop to the action sequences in the film. It seems like the movie picks up from where Om Shanti Om left off — Shah Rukh Khan himself reprises the “Picture abhi baaki hai” dialogue. SRK looks mean but not so clean. He has played around with his hair and comic timing. Junior B can be seen taking his Idea ad histrionics forward but Deepika Padukone seems to have lost some of her glowing innocence. She looks angular and drawn for the pole-dancing Mohini.
The other teaser that was a big hit on social media space was of Bigg Boss season 8. Salman Khan, looking dapper in a pilot’s outfit, is all set to take charge of the Bigg Boss house. The house will be in complete control of the host, who can either decide to give the contestants a pleasant ride or can drop down the altitude as per his wish to make the journey a jittery experience. Salman salutes for the camera as he walks with his macho stride. The video further showcases a visual of a plane flying leaving behind a message in smoke saying “Bigg Boss 8, coming soon.” As per the production sources, Salman Khan and the inmates will fly to Bangkok.
The teasers raised a storm of reaction from twitterati. It was SRK versus Sallu fans on Twitter. “Bigg Boss teaser is 10 times better than HNY trailer (sic),” read one of the tweets. “The teaser of Bigg Boss has got way better response than this crap. Just check the YouTube comments (sic),” was another one. “What a stylish way to keep us waiting! With an intriguing teaser like this it will b hard 2 hold on (sic).”
The Bollywood fraternity led in praising HNY on Twitter. “Stupendous”, “whopper blockbuster” and “full on dhamaka” were the terms used by Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor, respectively, to applaud the trailer of Farah’s film. Anil Kapoor wrote, “@TheFarahKhan papaji! The trailer is absolutely fantastic!! My type commercial (sic).” “Blockbuster promo of #HNY-master dir @TheFarahKhan +two of my favourite Stars together @iamsrk & @juniorbachchan — ab bas picture dikhao (sic),” wrote Riteish Deshmukh. Even Salman came forward to appreciate the trailer of the film, now who knows what’s the plan behind thatIJ
If nothing else, the story of six losers (as SRK says in the trailer) seems like an out and out masala entertainer. Now let’s wait to watch how much this “baaki picture” will impress the viewers.
