Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu and Gauhar Khan gave a sizzling start to the IIFA Awards
The early birds who reached Tampa Bay for IIFA Awards made sure they begin the event with style, oomph and glamour. Among those who strutted the green carpet at the Tampa Convention Center were Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar. “I am excited to be here. I had been to Florida, Miami several times but it is the first time I came to Tampa Bay and I loved this place. I feel we Indians have invaded the city. This is going to be blockbuster weekend... It will be magical. It is important to be told how our cinema transcends borders and reaches people. It is celebration of India, Indian cinema,” said Priyanka, who sizzled in Prabal Gurung outfit. While Bipasha opted a Gaurav Gupta ensemble, Gauhar Khan chose a shimmering satin gown from Gauri and Nainika and Swara looked elegant in a peplum dress by Christian Siriano.
Anil Kapoor grooved with Tampa mayor Bob Buckhorn. The actor, who unveiled the Do the Tampa IIFA 2014 theme song, made the mayor dance a bit at the opening press conference of the film extravaganza. The theme song is composed by Ravi Drums. While Buckhorn was shying away from dancing, Anil pulled him on stage and made him do his own signature step.
The festivities in Tampa Bay will culminate in an awards ceremony tonight and is expected to be attended by Hollywood actor John Travolta, who will receive a special honour.
