Pakistani actor Humaima Malick, who received global recognition with her first movie, is all set for a hot debut in Bollywood

After receiving some 16 international awards and impressing global audience with her debut movie Bol, Pakistani actor Humaima Malick is upbeat about her Bollywood entry, Raja Natwarlal. However, unlike her first movie, her next is a commercial potboiler. “I made people cry so much that I wanted to entertain them. I don’t think I could have got better debut in Bollywood. The film is full on entertainment and has bold kisses,” she tells us. But it was not an easy ride for her. She was one among the hundreds of girls auditioned for Raja Natwarlal. “They took my audition properly.  And I got to know that they auditioned hundred more girls after me. But I got the call after three months and I grabbed the opportunity,” she says. Talking about her character, she adds, “I play Ziya, who is a bar dancer in the movie. She is the love interest of Emraan Hashmi. She is a very strong girl and is protective of her love.”

She is excited to be in India, which she calls her second home. “We look alike. We speak the same language. I enjoy India more than any other country. It’s as exciting as home. I have worked in Turkey, london, Pakistan, Dubai and then India,” she tells us.

Malick has been a Bollywood fan and has grown up watching movies of Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and the Khans. “I have loved Parinda, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. I would love to work with Imtiaz Ali. Sanjay leela Bhansali makes woman look so gorgeous. I want to strike a balance between entertaining and meaningful cinema,” she says.

Before Malick, a lot of Pakistani heroines have tried their luck in Bollywood but none could sustain. “I haven’t tracked what others were doing here. But I am pretty sure about my work,” she says.
