Forget me not

While packing up for your vacations, you should remember to add some skincare essential to your travel kit says Suraj Vazirani

Ever since the second wave of the pandemic hit, everyone has been waiting for the lockdown restrictions to be lifted to enjoy a much-needed vacation. After what seemed like a long wait, restrictions have been relaxed and we can finally pack up for that long due vacay! And ladies, when you pack your bags, don’t forget one of the most important things: your skincare essentials.

In most cases, skincare at home is a breeze. You can use all products and organize them in a way that you understand. However, while heading for a vacation, we generally lose track of things we take care of daily. That is the point of a vacation, after all. However, we should bear in mind that a lot of factors such as pollution, lack of sleep and irregular access to a healthy diet may affect your skin while travelling and it may lose its elasticity.

While on a vacation, it becomes difficult to keep up with the same skin-care routine, hence it would be best to devise a list of skincare requisites that can be added to the list of travel essentials to ensure your skin remains supple and damage-free throughout your holiday while you unwind and relax. Here are some of the must-haves you should add to your travel kit right away:

Face cleanser

One should never travel without their face cleanser. A natural face cleanser comprising ingredients like aloe vera or rose water can keep the skin soft and hydrated. It gently exfoliates and nourishes the skin, thereby, keeping the natural glow intact.

Make-up removal wipes

An absolute essential that will come in handy at all times. Gone are the days when you carried cotton pads and remover separately. These make-up removal wipes allow you to take off your makeup anywhere, anytime.

Anti-frizz spray

A holiday for some might indicate that they might not have a ‘good-hair day’ as much as they want it to be. With an anti-frizz spray, you can keep your hair manageable as per your preference and you enjoy your vacation without any worries.

Sunscreen lotion

Sunscreen is used to protect the skin from the harmful effects of sunlight. They help prevent sunburn and premature ageing (such as wrinkles, rough skin). The active ingredients in sunscreens work either by absorbing the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation, preventing it from reaching the deeper layers of the skin, or by reflecting the radiation. So lather up on sunscreen and go out to explore the city or the beach.

Primer

Worried about your open pores ruining your holiday pictures? Pack a good matte primer and bid adieu to open pores and patchy skin for prolonged hours.

Night serum

Throughout the day, while travelling, a lot of impurities might stick to your face. After your nightly routine, do apply a night serum, so that your skin heals while you sleep.

Sheet mask

Sheet masks infused with soothing ingredients such as algae, tea tree oil, aloe vera, and salicylic acid help in controlling oil secretion, clearing pores, removing dirt, and preventing breakouts. They can help keep your skin hydrated and glowing during vacations.

Facial mist spray

Whether you are on a weekend getaway or a long vacation, a facial mist spray will keep your skin refreshed throughout the trip. It will also add extra moisture to the skin.

 Eye cream

While on a vacation, there are chances that one might miss out on their beauty sleep and wake up with dark circles. To avoid those, one must include eye cream in their travel kit.

Dry shampoo

Your hair might look oily and greasy in two days, and it might not be possible for you to wash your hair on a holiday. Taking along a pack of dry shampoo may come in handy during these times.

 Hand cream

One might have to encounter changes in temperature while travelling from one place to the other and your skin might also have to deal with different types of water. To avoid any bad effects of changing weather or water on your hands, a good hand cream can come to the rescue.

Lip sleeping mask

The skin of your lips is thinner than facial skin and might get affected by temperature variations and change in water. A lip sleeping mask will keep your lips hydrated, provide SPF protection and help your lips look more supple.
