Airports Authority of India is hosting 11th Meeting of the South East Asia and Bay of Bengal Sub Regional ADS-B Implementation Working Group (SEA/BOB ADS-B WG/11). The meeting is a part of the ongoing efforts to put ADS-B Surveillance Technology in operational use in the Asia Pacific region with the objective of improved safety and reliability of Air Navigation Services. The ADS-B Surveillance technology is planned to be used for Surveillance of Aircraft replacing the current Secondary Surveillance Radar system.

The implementation of the ADS-B system will support the provision of high performance surveillance, enhancing flight safety, facilitating the reduction of separation minima and supporting user demand such as user preferred trajectories. The cost benefits drawn from the use of ADS-B will effectively contribute in bringing down the air travel cost worldwide.
