Varun Dhawan tells K Bhardwaj about the professional rapport he shares with his father and his workout regime
Thanks to his dancing skills, chocolatey looks and chiselled body, in no time Varun Dhawan has a good female fan following. The actor who made his debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year (SOTY) shared his workout regimen with us. “I take my workout sessions seriously and on occasions I take liberty with my diet. Being a typical Punjabi, I cannot avoid delicious food. But since my profession requires perfect shape, I cannot ignore fitness. The person who motivates me the most is my trainer Prashant Sawant. But I would confess that I gorge on weekends,” he told us.
The actor performed a special dance sequence at the launch of a fitness DVD Pumpstart by Wellzone. It is choreographed by actor-dancer Remo D’Souza. “This DVD is a unique concept with just five minutes of dance. The moves relax the 13 major muscle groups of body. In our times, when we are mostly sitting while at work, we are not able to find time for exercises, this DVD will be of help to many. To remain fit, diet is also an important factor. People should be careful of what they eat throughout the day,” he said.
The 26-year-old actor is currently shooting for his father, David Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero. He also suffered an injury in Bengaluru while shooting a stunt for the movie. “We have completed 20 days of shooting. It was raining heavily in the city. We somehow managed to shoot that scene. Actually, I was hanging on the tenth floor of a building to shoot a song sequence when I got a minor back injury as I pulled the rope more than required. My father naturally got worried,” he said.
However, the young Dhawan, who resumed the shoot shortly after the incident, clarified that he shares a professional rapport with his director-father on the sets. “I am not treated like his son. I behave and observe things as any other actor would do,” he said. The actor’s forthcoming projects include Karan Johar’s Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania opposite Alia Bhatt.
