The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was honoured with Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puraskar-2017 at a special ceremony organised at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday. KVS was selected by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the category of Identification and Nurturing of Budding /Young Talent. Commissioner, KVS Santosh Kumar Mall received the award and the citation from Ram Nath Kovind, the President. 

KVS has taken several measures to promote sports and physical activities among the students of all KVs spread throughout the country and abroad. Recently, KVS has launched its Swasth Bachche Swasth Bharat programme providing fitness profile card to more than 12 lakh students to focus on physical fitness and well being of students by making it an integral part of school curriculum.

KVS has also made considerable growth in the National School Games organised by SGFI by securing a total number of 81 medals in various categories during 62nd National School Games this year as compared to 60 medals of last year.

Tie-up with Sports Authority of India, sports institutions, foundation and sports academies:

  • Joint venture with KVS and SAI sports for KVs students.
  • Implementation of SAI promotional STC/SAG scheme for KVS students under process.
  • Initiated training programme for TGT (PHE) with SAI.
  • KVS associated with Khelo India project.
  • KVS associated with school sports promotion foundation (SSPF).
  • KVS associated with Prime Minister Football Promotional programme, Oorja cup football tournament.
  • KVS has taken initiatives for advocacy programme of ‘Mission XI Million’ FIFA World Cup Promotional programme in all KVs.

Incentives and Motivation to Students:

  • KVS provides Rs 400/- as DA for each student during sub-regional, regional, national and SGFI participation for nutrition and balance diet.
  • KVS provides all sports accessories, playing kit, track suit and shoes for participating students along with tutors to  motivate them.
  • Cash award is distributed among the medal winners at KVS national, SGFI, National and International level if sponsored by KVS authority.
  • Cash prize for individuals and team events at various level for winners.
