An eye camp in association with the state government was held at NTPC hospital at Korba in Chhattisgarh from October 21 to 28 in which 250 patients were operated for cataract surgery intra ocular lens implantation) out of 451 registered for the camp.
A team of doctors under the leadership of Dr M Bajpai, chief medical officer, rendered their services for success of the camp. It is to be noted here cataract surgery through phaco-emulsification is being performed at NTPC Korba hospital, which has established its uniqueness among hospitals in NTPC projects.
In 2012-13, a total of 413 were operated while 506 patients were operated in 2011-12 and 556 in 2010-11. NTPC Korba in association with the district administration, Red Cross Society and NTPC Maitri Mahila Samiti has been conducting this week-long camp twice every year. Hundreds of local populations in this tribal belt of the state benefit of this camp.
