Savdhaan India has launched another season that catechises you to fight back. What’s new in it other than the taglineIJ We couldn’t find it either. Unnati Joshi reports
There was a time when saas-bahu drama and family politics fascinated the Indian audience. Crime shows were never big on Indian television like they are now. Savdhaan India joined this bandwagon four years back and now they have come up with the fifth season, Savdhaan India, dar ker nahi dutt ker.
Actor Sushant Singh has been hosting the show since its inception. What made him host the showIJ “I have hosted a show Wanted high alert before for Colors, the show was pulled off air after five episodes. IPl and T20 were going back to back and we could not get the TRPs, hence the show failed. Somewhere in my mind it was there that I failed as an anchor. So I was waiting for one such opportunity where I can prove it to myself that, no, I didn’t fail. So this was one chief reason for my collaboration with the show. And the second reason, of course, was sense of social responsibility. My first and the only question to the network was, ‘what exactly are you looking for, what kind of anchor’ They said, ‘we want you, the way you would feel about the issues’. And that's when I thought, I can contribute.”
Actress Divya Dutta also expressed her concern over the increasing crime rates in the country. She has been associated with the show from past one year.
How different is the new seasonIJ “I felt so strong speaking those lines (dar ker nahi dutt ker) for the first time. It felt as if someone’s patting my back and reading these lines to me. It resounded very strongly to me.”
When asked about Indian film industry the actress limpidly said, “It is a male dominated industry. We always ask who the hero of the film is and asking about the heroine is the secondary thing. But saying so, women are making their presence felt and they always have. We cannot forget Madhubala, Meena Kumari, Nutan, Nargis, Hema Malini, Rekha, Jaya Bachchan, Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi. They were legendary actors. We cannot say their existence wasn’t there. Even these days, Deepika Padukone is charging as much as a hero, she has given that success rate.”
About her journey so far she said, “life is too big. Every day is different. I think I am happy that it’s a self-made journey and I have achieved the love of the audience, it’s not the starstrucked craze but people think I am one of their own. “let’s watch her, she is different” is what I hear. My audience give me the freedom to look de-glam someday and glamorous the other day."
Mohit Malik, who has been hosting the show for a while now, said, “I am very glad to be a part of Savdhaan India. I always wanted to do something for the society. My journey with the show isn’t too long to describe. But yes, after I started hosting the show, I have become more aware about what is happening around. I never read newspapers before but now I have started reading about the day to day incidents”.
He also shared his personal experience of a bus hitting his car. “I informed the police which I would’nt have done earlier. The civic sense which I have acquired now made me do so”, he told us.
About the new season Sushant said, “The previous season was doing good but it’s better to improve ourselves before people start pointing out our snags”. Diplomatic enough.
The actors along with everyone present took a pledge to fight back on finger print scanner and later posed for cameras near the pledge wall.
