The cast of Nikhil Advani’s forthcoming film promoted the movie in bits and pieces. Iknoor Kaur listened to their real stories
While Arjun Rampal sported his signature casual style, Irrfan Khan chose to be in his formals and maintained that serious look he is known for. The lady was dressed like she was to head for a party. Shruti Hassan wore a black sheer fabric gown. We heard Huma Qureshi was in Delhi too but could not make up for the event. This was the team for Nikhil Advani’s D-Day at PVR, Select City Walk, Saket.
Irrfan chose to speak first, “For the first time I found a script where the life of a spy was being looked into so deeply and was being shown in reality and totality. The detailing and narrative of the film is sensitive. It’s not like a James Bond film, it’s about real spies, who lead secretive lives.”
Arjun shared his opinion too, “The film is realistic, commercial and an edgy thriller. When the RAW agents saw the script the first thing they said was that the casting is wrong. So, Irrfan and I had to work really hard. I think we performed well under fear.”
Shruti is a part of two films releasing on the same day — Ramaiya Vastavaiya and D-Day. D-Day seems to be closer to her heart. She said, “I was out of town during Ramaiya Vastavaiya’s promotions. However, I hope that both the films do equally well at the box office.” Arjun in his extremely witty manner, added, “If she had gone for the promotions of that film, Irrfan and I would’ve been pretty annoyed with her. I think that’s why she didn’t go.”
On Rishi Kapoor’s presence in the film Arjun added, “Rishi Kapoor is going to blow everybody’s mind. We were fortunate that he agreed to do the film. He is so realistic with his comedy. The way he has portrayed the character is unbelievable. This is his best performance on screen so far.”
The film shows Shruti with a scar. Irrfan commented, “The scar is very effective in the film because the narrative is so sensitive, that it works magic.” He also compared it to Jack Nicholson’s China Town, where the cut on his nose plays an important part in the film. “Similarly, in this film the scar does wonders. It is an integral part of the script,” he added.
Huma, dressed in long gown, we heard was waiting in the lounge.
