Junkyard café comes up with yet another outlet in Saket offering its usual suspects.ANANYA tries some
Another addition to the eateries of Saket, Junkyard has now opened its third outlet in the city. Contrary to the décor and general mood of the place, the bar menu offers health mocktails which is something new for us. Some of the names on the list which caught our attention were - root collage and citrus mart. We thought of trying them only for the sake of our health. Root collage was a fresh fruit concoction with beetroot, carrot and tasted absolutely healthy. After downing our health potion we head to the signature edison served in a bulb over a bed of dry ice in a glass. See didn’t we speak of the usual suspectsIJ
It was encouraging to see that the menu at the café is divided into two parts. The part where they apparently try to show their concerns for our health comprises the 'what all goes into' making a particular dish along with their respective calories, so we keep our tummies in place. And don’t think just because it’s healthy it ought to be insipid. The section has tempting dishes to offer such as mushroom and thyme risotto and fish and chips with tartar sauce. Moving on we had minto plus, a refreshing drink of watermelon, fresh mint and lime. A respite from the muggy weather. We must admit.
After a few minutes of waiting, which felt like hours, we were served the appealing vegetarian and non vegetarian platters. The hara bhara kebab of the vegetarian platter was delightful. It consisted of palak, soya and an unusual topping which made it ten times better than the usual hara bhara. The falafel with hummus was a little bland and dry but the stir fried water chestnut in honey glazed sauce totally made up for it. We were also served palak patta chaat which felt little different but delicious.
It was time for some meat now, the lamb seekh kebab served with mint and sesame sauce was the highlight of the meal. The kebab was extremely juicy and went well with the mint sauce. The platter also had cilantro and peanut chicken which was not very succulent but the sauce saved it again. The classic chicken tikka and malai tikka were good to taste but not something that one would come back for. One can also enjoy Thai curry with steamed rice or the Italian cuisine on the menu which includes different varieties of pizzas and pastas. We would recommend the alfredo pasta.
To end it on a sweet note, we had the nutella cheesecake which was lip smacking and made the calorie intake totally worth it. This café has great variety in terms of food and beverages. You name it and you have it. Sushi lovers can also indulge in different kinds of sushi like the salmon and tuna roll. The Junkyard also offers various dimsums including mushroom, chicken, pork and prawn. On the whole, this place is one-of-a-kind and one should come here to enjoy the delightful food and drinks along with the funky music.
