Aarti Zaveri’s exhibition Timeless Moments was recently inaugurated by Ustad Amjad Ali Khan. Iknoor Kaur reports

As the clock ticked and the golden silhouette of a man passed time, Aarti Zaveri unveiled her exhibition, Timeless Moments. The clock that ticked was an installation made by her. It showed an open dial with the hands of the clock being an outline of a man. “It shows that time is running out of life but the moments linger on,” said the artist at the launch of her exhibition at the Visual Arts Gallery.

Aarti put up a total of 20 oil-on-canvas paintings that maintain one common subject — the clock. “All my paintings are very philosophical. I have used symbols like the Tao and Zen as props in my paintings to explain the meaning of moments,” she explained.

Present at the occasion as chief guest was Ustad Amjad Ali Khan who urged the gathering to encourage their family members in pursuing the artistic talent they have. He shared, “Today Aarti has managed to reach this level with her art only because of the support she got from her family. If the family doesn’t support one in their artistic endeavours, they cannot proceed. However, even a little push sometimes can lead to success.”

Accompanying Khan was the guest of honour and director, National Gallery of Modern Art, Rajeev lochan. He commented on Aarti’s artwork, “Aarti doesn’t paint for money but for inner satisfaction. I have never heard her talk about selling her art. Just as Salvador Dali said once, ideas freeze from her mind and reach the tip of her hands every time she paints,” he said.

The exhibition will be on till Monday.
