There are many people in the world who pray to Almighty daily, however out of them there are many who are not sure as to why they are doing it or how will they benefit from it. Some people think their wishes will be fulfilled if they pray regularly, or that they will go to heaven after death. There are also many — especially the younger lot — who argue that if God is all-knowing, if he knows who we are and what we’re capable of and he has already planned our destiny, then what is the need to pray at allIJ If he is going to do what he is going to do anyway, why request him in prayersIJ
Before we get deep into this whole issue of whether to pray or not, we need to first understand that, most of us who remember God are not fully clear about who he is, what he is like, what he does and doesn’t do and what is our relationship with him. Because of this lack of clarity there is a distance between the devout and God. As a result of this, they see him as an entity far superior to them in terms of qualities and powers, and far removed from them in physical terms. Due to these perceptions, they approach God as a supplicant, hoping that he will be merciful and generous with them, just as fearful employees approach an angry boss. Secondly, because of lack of spiritual awareness, those who pray do not remember that they are souls, and that God, the Supreme Soul, is their father and as his children, we are heirs to his wealth of powers and virtues which he loves to give to his children so that they can become free from all sorrows and wants.
So, in that sense, this godly inheritance is naturally ours and hence we need not beg or pray for it, because he himself comes to this world towards the end of the Iron Age and tells us how we can claim this inheritance from him. He first tell humans that that they are souls, not bodies and then gives them knowledge about himself and about the cycle of time, and how souls play different roles in successive births, starting from a state of perfection and gradually getting depleted as the world passes through the Golden, Silver, Copper and Iron ages.
Finally, when souls become nearly empty of their spiritual powers and virtues, and come increasingly under the influence of vices, they start performing sinful actions and suffer sorrow. This is when the cries for help and salvation from all souls reach him and he comes to take them back to their home i.e the soul world by liberating them from all the negative attributes they have acquired during their sojourn on earth and restoring them to their original, pure state. He teaches them the unique art of “RajYoga” which helps them to connect with him and receive all his powers and virtues, which gradually strengthens their original qualities of purity, peace, bliss, power and love.
This inheritance is God’s gift to his children who live according to his directions at the present time and make themselves worthy of going to the divine world that dawns on earth at the beginning of each cycle of time. The time to claim this inheritance is now. So what are we waiting forIJ
