‘I really wanted to become a doctor’, says veteran actress Asha Parekh on India’s Best Dancer 2
Week on week, the contestants of India’s Best Dancer 2 have been enthralling the audience with their dancing talent. Under the tutelage of their choreographers, these contestants have been honing their skills and the result is for all to see. This weekend, the contestants will pay a befitting tribute to the evergreen jodi of Indian Film Industry —Dharmendra Deol and Asha Parekh — as they perform on the iconic retro songs of the veteran actors. As known to all, contestant Saumya Kamble’s father wants her to become a doctor like him. However, in a surprising turn of events, Kamble’s strict father will finally only be accepting his daughter’s choice but also decides to wholeheartedly support he dream and passion.
When legendary actress Asha Parekh heard about this, she made a confession herself that really surprised everyone. The actress shared, “Even I wanted to become a doctor. For school, I used to travel everyday from Santa Cruz to Flora Fountain and one day on my way to school, I saw an accident site and all the blood really made me dizzy. Which is when I knew that I can’t be a doctor. But that’s okay, because with the earnings I got from working in films, I opened a hospital and am helping those in need in my own way. Even you can do that, Saumya. You can also help the poor and under-privileged by being a dancer. Being a doctor isn’t important, become who you really want to be.”
