Amitabh Bachchan’s fictional show Yudh is touted to be the most expensive Indian show ever
Struggling with his own psychological battle which is probably an outcome of lifetime corporate rivalries, Amitabh Bachchan as Yudhisthir Skarwar, an elite businessman, showed an array of emotions in the first teaser of his forthcoming TV show Yudh. The Sony show marks the debut of Big B in fictional format, who is also hosting the forthcoming edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The cast also includes Kay Kay Menon, Sarika and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles.
Set in a corporate world, Yudh deals with the journey and struggles of Skarwar in professional and personal life. Not long ago, Anil Kapoor also presented a gripping crime thriller which gave a refreshing break to the TV audience. The Bachchan show, which has names like Anurag Kashyap and Shoojit Sircar at its helm, is expected to be an ultimate thriller. Co-produced by Endemol and Saraswati Productions, the show has 20 hours of content to be presented as a daily programme. There are reports suggesting the humongous production costs. Each episode is being pegged at Rs 3 crore. last year, Anil Kapoor’s 24 created record with cost of about Rs 2.5 crore per episode (including licence fee).
However, the Yudh trailer has evoked mixed response with a few comparing it to Breaking Bad. TV buff Vineet Potdar posted right after the trailer launch, “looks good… Is it just me or does anyone else thinks too that this looks like Breaking Bad” while Nagesh Alagi was impressed with the teaser, “It’s making new history in TV Media!! Amitabh incredible! Superb! (sic)”.
