Gabriel Macht tells how his uber confident character in drama series Suits on Comedy Central will change in the forthcoming series
How important are the suits and the hair to your characterIJ
I think it’s really important. You are going to see in the flashback, 10 years earlier, I tried to make a little difference where he’s just got, his hair over to the side, a little bit more innocent. He’s a softer guy. I think that most of his growth actually came before we see him. I will be honest, in the first season when he had his whole slicked back thing and his hair like became black, it’s pretty funny. There were, whatever, behind the scenes mistakes going on that I don’t know if anyone needs to know, but we made it.
Is it uncomfortable for youIJ
NowIJ No, it is fine sometimes it is a little too long but whatever. It’s part of his presentation. I think he feels, again, that his uber confidence and his uber sort of testosterone driven thing will help get him great clients, athletes, and you know, close the deal, in this, macho way. He is a metrosexual guy, but who knows what’s beneath all of it.
Tell about Michelle — Michelle Fairley joining the cast and working with her, and she’s a cheater at the top of the corporate ladder.
I am supposed to believe that she didn’t do it, rightIJ This is the first episode; you guys might be just as confused as I amIJ It is so funny; we were just talking about it in the trailer, like what is actually happening in the showIJ It’s confusing because I think because we repeat certain themes and certain ideas and with this show specifically, it turns. like, one week we think she’s done it, and then the next thing next week, we find out that she hasn’t. And then the following week we actually find out that she was involved, that’s how this show is sort of orchestrated which makes it pretty challenging for us, but I live in the moment. So I am trying to figure out what the hell is actually going on in the show. Michelle is a pleasure to work with, she’s hilarious. I saw The Red Wedding and I was like, “Holy, oh my...”. She brings a certain grounded element to our show which I love. She is just such a solid actor, she is classy and has this just sophistication and it’s just when you are listening to her, everything is so just so heavy. So, I think that’s great for our show and you I love how our show goes back and forth between the lightness and the comedy and then real sort of, drama that people really, invested in, or characters, anyway, I can just keep on talking.
She is an interesting female to come into his life, because she’s not like Jessica, but she is a strong woman, so is she going to present trouble for Harvey when he’s trying to litigateIJ
I think so because he is not getting all the information out of her straight away, and I think they do that for a reason. They string it out. I think that our show does really well. The storyline that’s going on with her and her right-hand man and what’s going on in her corporation and her oil company is just exactly what’s going on in Pierce and Darby.
Pierce and Darby’s relationship was strained at the end of last season. What can you say about that relationshipIJ Will they be able to rebound in that wayIJ
I think it is going to take many episodes for them to rebound and there are moments here and there where they fall back onto the familiarity of their relationship.
Have you been giving tons of spoilersIJ
Am I allowed toIJ Someone would have jumped in. Well they totally have sex. No, I am kidding. That just cleans up everything, no! So there are moments where they do connect on certain things, but there are a lot of moments where there is a lot of like, no way, we are not going that route, or things done behind each other’s back. I don’t know if this is a spoiler, but there is a deal that’s been made, that Harvey makes a deal with Darby.
He is going after her. I think there are moments where you’ll see they are going to clash. We are just getting to a point where we are resolving some of that, and he comes clean on a couple of things. I think that allows some of that redemption and will let some of that maturity come back into the fold.
