After a video by a woman in New York City goes viral, a similar video shot in Mumbai featuring a girl walking on the streets for 10 hours becomes the talking point for netizens. Surprisingly the girl didn’t face any harassment in the latter case
There probably are some lessons that people in the New York City can learn from Mumbaikars. A few days ago, a video shot by a girl from the New York City walking around for 10 hours and being catcalled went viral. Taking a clue from that IndieTube Productions decided to shoot a similar video in Mumbai. But surprisingly the girl didn’t face any harassment even once.
The video shows the girl dressed in a short skirt and a sleeveless pink top walking down the streets at various locations like Vashi and CST in Mumbai. She crosses the busy streets and even takes a walk at railway station at different hours of the day and luckily didn’t face any harassment. The video was applauded on social networking sites and Twitter, too, was flooded with praises. “Inspired from the #NYC video — 10 hours of walking in #Mumbai as a woman, & should be watched till the end (sic),” wrote AbdulBasith Hasan. “They say that we are rapist, salute to our honest public...!! 10 hours of walking in mumbai as a woman (sic),” read another tweet. “10 hours of walking in Mumbai as a woman: Charm of Mumbai explained on why it is still a safe City (sic),” was another tweet. “Instead of Not all men are same, it shud be ‘only a few men are different’. 10 hours of walking in mumbai as a woman (sic),” tweeted Sudhanshu Agrawal.
The video, of course, is something to be proud of but if it really depicts the true picture of most Indian cities is tough to say.
