Shilpa Rao will be collaborating with Palash Sen for a concert to raise funds for Maneka Gandhi’s People For Animals. She spoke to Iknoor Kaur

Born and brought up in Jamshedpur, Shilpa Rao grew up in an animal-friendly environment. The singer has always believed in living in harmony with the environment and all of its components. Maybe that was the reason she didn’t have to think twice before saying yes to Palash Sen when he approached her for a collaborative concert in support of Maneka Gandhi’s initiative, People For Animals. The concert will be in collaboration with Pass Pass to raise funds for animal welfare.

Shilpa who is known for songs like Ek lau and Tosey Naina lage said that she had been looking for an opportunity to collaborate with Palash for a long time. “It couldn’t have been at a better occasion than this. I totally support this cause and strongly feel for it. I have always believed in contributing towards animal welfare. They are also living creatures and we need to treat them with as much care as human beings,” she added.

In 1988, Palash set up the band Euphoria and went on to become one of most loved music groups in the country. Their song Maaeri helped the band get famous. This will be the first time he will be seen collaborating with Shilpa.

The funds raised from the concert will go to People For Animals which is one of the largest organisations in the country working for animal welfare. They have 36 hospitals and shelters in over 200 units all over India only for animals and are now aiming to build a shelter-cum-hospital in every district. The event will be held on September 6 at Siri Fort Auditorium.
