A mini break

Karan Bhardwaj

Kirron Kher was here to honour the winner of Doodle4Google contest. She told Karan Bhardwaj why she loves Bigg Boss

Kirron Kher’s hands are full. She has just finished two big films, one by Neeraj Pandey (who made A Wednesday and Special 26) and another with Anurag Singh (who made Jatt & Juliet and Dil Bole Hadippa). Her TV reality show India’s Got Talent is coming back and she will also be seen in Anil Kapoor production’s remake of Khubsoorat. Recently, she and hubby Anupam Kher dined with Robert De Niro. So there was lots of claps, gossips and kisses in air. But with all this work she is stressed. “I am over-worked and strained. I am going crazy,” she said. How does she destressIJ “I read. I am re-reading books I used to read as a kid. It gives me peace. I read Georgette Heyer or PG Wodehouse. They have written light fiction,” she said as we chatted with her on the sidelines of Doodle4Google contest. She was at her bubbly best.

On her return to TV as a judge, she said there were many new things to be shared which will be revealed some time in next week. So do you have your list of TV showsIJ “I love watching television. 24 and Bigg Boss are my favourites. I know people are criticising Bigg Boss for being violent and illogical but that what show’s USP is. I don’t understand audience’s double standards. They are interested if there is a fight in neighbourhood. Why are they pointing out petty incidents in Bigg BossIJ What’s the fun if contestants don’t create tamasha. They are not Salman or Shah Rukh Khan we would like watch on TV. The producers intentionally scout for mad people to fit the bill,” she said.

Kirron is also upbeat about changing trends in cinema and said it is the best time to be part of film industry. “If a movie is relevant to times and well-made, it strikes a chord with the audience. Different subjects are being liked by the audience. They too have become liberal in choices,” she said.
