Paridhi Sharma drew inspiration from Devdas' Chandramukhi to play Jodha. By I Kaur

Paridhi Sharma watched  Hrithik Roshan-Aishwarya Rai starrer Jodha Akbar several times to take cue for her character in the Zee TV’s version of the epic. However, the young actress found real inspiration in Devdas’ Chandramukhi, played by Madhuri Dixit.

“I love the way Madhuri carried herself in Devdas and it was a dream role for me. Though the character of Jodha is very different from Chandramukhi, I feel the essence of the two is very similar. I always try to display the same kind of carriage she had in that film,” she shared.

Paridhi feels that the character of Jodha has helped her become a stronger person. She said, “Jodha is known for strong will and a fighter’s spirit. She was a woman who always spoke up when it came to her dignity. So somewhere this quality has rubbed onto me as well and I feel way more confident than before.”

She added that today’s women are exactly like Jodha and that is why the serial clicks with them. “Aaj ki aurat vo nahi jiski aankhon mein aansoon aur haathon mein belan (Today’s woman doesn’t sit in the kitchen all day weeping). Today every woman has a sword in hand and is ready to fight for her dignity,” she said. Since Paridhi has learnt Chau, sword fighting came naturally to her. However, learning horse riding was a nightmare.

So far, Paridhi has played the angry Jodha in the drama. However, the show will take a turning point tonight where the love story of Jodha and Akbar will begin.
