Pop-out actor and anchor Ritvik Dhanjani looks at India's Next Superstar as a genuine platform for aspiring actors to reach Bollywood
Reality shows have been the talk of the town for some time but actor Ritvik Dhanjani believes that every show should have an emotional element to be successful. “The success also depends on how honest the contestants have been, something that I have learnt while working through the years. It has been a lovely journey. I came to Mumbai six years ago and took baby steps, featuring in advertisements. One thing led to another. Slowly, I started appearing in serials with small roles. My big break came in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani where I played the antagonist, Jay Khurana, who was a werewolf. After which I played Arjun Digvijay Kirloskar in Pavitra Rishta opposite Asha Negi. However, my anchoring journey started with a tiny segment I hosted for Zee channel, after which I never looked back.” He also hosted the show Yeh Hai Aashiqui, which gained him popularity among the youth.
“I am really excited about the show. Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty are a surprise package as they both bring a crazy quotient to it and share a great camaraderie. I am sure viewers haven’t seen the fun side of Shetty so far— doing masti with contestants, laughing his heart out and having a carefree attitude.”
The USP of the ambitious project is that the winning couple will be the next superstars of the country. As per sources, the director-duo will make a film that will have the winners as lead or they will feature in a Dharma Productions film.
Dhanjani gave us an insight into the show through one of the tasks — the contestant was asked to convince others that there was a ghost in the house.
Opportunities like these do not come often for strugglers and Dhanjani agrees. “Had this opportunity came my way five years ago, I would have grabbed it with both hands. Many aspiring actors come to the city of dreams, give a series of auditions, hoping to get selected. People die to work with directors like them, hoping to get noticed, trying to even bag a small role in their films. Here, the acclaimed filmmakers are reaching out to them through this show,” he said. He further informed us that the filtration process was grilling. Mukesh Chhabra will be the casting director and acting coach for the reality show. He sure has an eye for he has selected the crew for movies like Chillar Party, Gangs of Wasseypur, Kai Po Che and D-Day.
We all know that Dhanjani will host the show but he will also be a guiding force for the contestants — to boost their morale, highlight their shortcomings, and help them out along the way.
