Nargis won’t gain weight for films

Nargis Fakhri, who works hard to maintain her fit frame, says she won't gain weight even if a character requires it. “Gaining or losing weight is more to do with guys and not girls. I would like to be more fit, but I don't think I will put on fat or gain weight for movie roles. I am not going to do that,” the actress told IANS. The Rockstar fame actress, who was also part of films like Madras Cafe, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero and Hollywood film Spy, is currently busy shooting for the biopic on former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin titled Azhar. Nargis is playing the role of Sangeeta Bijlani, the second wife of Azharuddin.

Asked if she has taken some tips from the former actress, Nargis said: “I'm just working on myself and shooting outdoors. I'm not sure about the tips.”

Mahesh Bhatt has said he has roped in Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, who last month called off all his scheduled concerts in India, to sing for his play titled Milne Do, a collaborative effort of theatre actors from India and Pakistan. “He (Ghulam Ali) has been approached and he has gracefully agreed to lend his voice and be a part of the peace endeavour through performing arts. I can't say whether he will come to India or not, but he will certainly sing a song which will be a part of the play,” Bhatt said, whose 1990 film Awaargi featured a song by Ghulam Ali.

Depp to be honoured at SBIFF

Johnny Depp will receive the Maltin Modern Master Award, the highest honour of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF). The 31st edition of the annual festival is scheduled to take place in February next year.

The prize, given to “an individual who has enriched our culture through accomplishments in the motion picture industry,” is presented in tandem with a career retrospective for Depp at the Arlington Theater in Santa Barbara.

last year, it was renamed for film critic leonard Maltin, who moderated the event for over 25 years. “Johnny Depp is a true embodiment of a modern master. He has had a long and storied career that has shown his commitment to taking on compelling and dynamic roles,” SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said.
