With Amitabh Bachchan's Wazir and Shamitabh, Ranbir Kapoor's Bombay Velvet, Shah Rukh Khan's Raees and Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan releasing this year, 2015 has much variety in store
Men’s show
While 2014 was a year of women power in Bollywood, it seems that this year, women will take a break. Apart from a handful of films, all the most-anticipated movies happen to be hero-centric. Be it Akshay Kumar’s Gabbar, Salman Khan’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Fan, Hrithik Roshan’s Mohanjedaro or Ranbir Kapoor’s Tamasha. Though the leading ladies like Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif will be seen in big-budget movies, the initial buzz seems to be taken over by their male co-actors.
Prem is back!
After action-oriented flicks like Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger, Salman Khan is all set to return as the ideal son in Sooraj Barjatya’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. Seems Barjatya is trying the tried and tested formula with this film that will present Salman as Prem. The film also stars Sonam Kapoor, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Swara Bhaskar, Anupam Kher and Deepak Dobriyal. According to reports, Salman is having a tough time because a lot has changed in his personality since his last appearance as ‘Prem’.
Trade
With pk setting fresh benchmarks for Bollywood’s business, 2015 is expected to generate more revenues. Director Zoya Akhtar will be back with Dil Dhakadne Do, Kajol, too, is making a comeback and Shah Rukh Khan will have a couple of releases. The sizzling pair of Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone will set the stage ablaze again with Sanjay leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani.
Back to business
While a few stars might have had no or a dismal show in 2014, they have a string of releases this year. Big stars will be seen in diverse roles playing complicated characters. The young heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor will be back with back-to-back releases this year. He will open his account with Roy, followed by Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet, Anurag Basu’s Jagga Jasoos and buddy director Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha. Amitabh Bachchan has R Balki’s Shamitabh, Shoojit Sircar’s Piku and Bejoy Nambiar’s Wazir.
