Subir Das, Former GM, Bharat Coking Coal limited (BCCl), a subsidiary of Coal India ltd, assumed office as director mines of NlC.
Das graduated during 1980 from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, a premier institution in the country for mining engineering. He also possesses first class coal competency certificate. He has rich experience of 34 years in the mining industry both on operations and project implementation. During his tenure, he has worked in one of the largest underground coal mines (Jhanjira) for 10 years. While working in Eastern Coal Fields ltd, he has received the Best Mining Engineer of ECl Award thrice.
Bharat Heavy Electricals limited (BHEl) has paid a final equity dividend of 76 per cent for fiscal 2013-14. In value terms, the total dividend paid for fiscal 2013-14 amounts to Rs 693 crore, which is 141.5 per cent of the paid-up capital (including an interim dividend of 65.5 per cent). With this, the company has maintained its impeccable track record of rewarding investors by paying dividends uninterruptedly since 1976-77.
Directors on the board of BHEl as well as other senior officials of the Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises and BHEl were also present on this occasion.
In spite of fiscal 2013-14 being an extremely challenging year for BHEl, the company has been successful in navigating through such a constrained business environment.
I have purchased a Whirlpool IC 355 FCGB4 refrigerator by placing an order on the online shopping portal http://www.shopclues.com with order number 16130213. The refrigerator was delivered by Whirlpool distributor M/s Naveen Electrotech Pvt ltd, H-4/4, Model Town-II under the invoice number 2014-15/585. On opening the packing of refrigerator, it was found that it is a defective piece.After continuous chasing, the company approved the reverse pick up of the defective refrigerator nearly a month ago. Nearly 25 days ago shopclues.com called up to say that they need the refrigerator in the original packing as it was delivered. Distributor has so far not taken back the defective refrigerator. It is surprising to know that the customer is supposed to keep the packing material after the product is delivered to him. When we contacted Whirlpool they refused to entertain the complaint and directed us to the shopclues.com. As two months have already elapsed after the approval of reverse pick up of defective refrigerator, the same is not replaced.

SPMCIl celebrated Hindi Week recently. The winners of the different competitions and incentive schemes regarding official language were awarded by the chairman and managing director, director (Technical), chief vigilance officer and general manager (IT) of SPMCIl. CMD motivated all the employees to use Hindi in their work and emphasised that letters to be issued bilingually. He also mentioned that though the use of Hindi has increased significantly in corporate office yet more efforts need to be made to achieve the targets.

The opening ceremony of the NCC National Games 2014 is scheduled October 8 at DG NCC Camp, Delhi Cantt and will be opened by lt gen A Chakravarty, VSM, DG of NCC. A grand closing ceremony is planned for October 18 at Army Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt.
The games will feature football, hockey, kabbadi, athletics, shooting and badminton for boys and kabbadi, kho-kho, table tennis, badminton, athletics and shooting for girls. All events except shooting are being conducted at Delhi while shooting is being conducted at Asansol, West Bengal. The game venues are distributed over the Delhi Cantonment and Sports Authority of India facilities in the national capital.

In keeping with the practise of honouring employees, whose alertness and prompt action have resulted in averting a possible accident, Northern Railway staged Safety Awards. The Railways honoured the services of twelve of its employees. The awards were presented by RC Agrawal GM, Northern Railway.
The 12 employees who were felicitated by the GM for their services were Jagdish and PS Mishra, loco pilots/Hazrat Nizamuddin of Delhi division, Mahadev Meena, loco pilot/Amritsar of Ferozepur division, Rajendra, gateman/Prayag of lucknow Division, AK Badola and Aaush Kumar, loco pilot, Bareilly of Moradabad division, Hawa Singh, loco pilot/Jind and others.
