Throughout the world, thousands of Brazilian Zouk dancers performed a flamboyant choreography, as part of the 3rd International Zouk Flash Mob. Over 40 dancers from Delhi joined forces with people from Rio de Janeiro, New York, Shanghai, Amsterdam, Paris, Sydney and 160 other cities to celebrate September 21, the International Day of Peace, with Brazilian Zouk, a beautiful partner dance originating from Rio de Janeiro.

Zouk India’s Anuj Gupta, instructor and local coordinator for the IZFM in Delhi said, “Zouk India pioneered the Brazilian Zouk dance in India and is the only group from India that has been with IZFM since it started in 2012. It is very encouraging to see our efforts bearing fruit and this year the number of participants from Delhi itself is four times as compared to 2012. Now Mumbai, Hyderabad and Pondicherry have joined in as well. It augurs well for Zouk and our effort to spread peace and unity everywhere.”

Shalini Sen, IZFM Management Team member added, “Brazilian Zouk dance is all about freedom and connection. We connect not only in person, but also in spirit, as thousands dance the same choreography in 48 countries on the same day. It has been an honour for me to lead our team Zouk India with Anuj, and also to be a part of the management team of a truly global event.”
