Rajinikanth at Cannes Film Fest

Megastars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will come together in a most unexpected way at the upcoming Cannes International Film Festival in May.

While Amitabh will represent his first Hollywood film The Great Gatsby in Cannes, Rajinikanth will be unveiling the trailer of his new film Kochadaiyaan at the fest. Murli Manohar, co-producer of the southern film said, “Rajiniji is as excited as a child about the way Kochadaiyaan has turned out. Rajiniji has shown the rough cut of the film to his close friends. The other day, AR Rahman saw the rough cut and was blown away,” said Manohar.

Conversation via Facebook and Twitter is such a waste of time. I don't understand the constant need to communicate. Why would I want to tell someone where am I going to take shower atIJ I would rather invest time in playing tennis

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar, who has made movies like luck By Chance and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, says she won’t mind making a small budget movie. “If I get the opportunity (to make a small budget film), I would love to. I think your budget depends on your choice. Yes, definitely, I will be making one tiny film soon for sure,” said Zoya. The filmmaker is the daughter of writers Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani.

Ridley’s TV series on the Vatican

Hollywood director Ridley Scott has filmed a TV series The Vatican in Rome, starring Bruno Ganz as the fictional present-day Pope Sixtus VI. Scott, who last filmed in Rome the blockbuster Gladiator, paid the city of Rome 50,000 euros a day to film in the area around St Peter's Square. A crowd of tourists looked on as Scott and his crew filmed in Pius XII Square at the top of the main road that leads to St Peter's Square. The Vatican movie's central character is a New York archbishop, Cardinal Thomas Duffy, played by Kyle Chandler. The cast also includes Anna Friel as Cardinal Duffy's sister and singer Rebecca Ferguson. Other scenes in Scott's thriller are being shot outside Rome's top appeals court on the banks of the Tiber and in the world-famous Via Veneto, immortalised in  Fellini's film la Dolce Vita.
