The Election Commission is looking into complaints, lodged by a BJP delegation today, of alleged violation of model code of conduct by Trinamool Congress supermo Mamata Banerjee and her district party leader Anubrata Mandal.

The written complaint lodged with Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal Sunil Gupta alleged that Banerjee made some objectionable remarks in a public meeting at Sahudingi in Siliguri.

"These are highly provocative words and against the norms of model code of conduct. We request you to take immediate and necessary measures as per violation of MCC to curb any further untoward utterances," the letter signed by BJP leaders locket Chatterjee, Ashim Sarkar and Shishir Bajoria read.

When asked, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar said they were examining the complaint.

Fresh complaints have also been made against Anubrata Mandal, Birbhum district president of Trinamool.

"We have a committee for examining such complaints. We will also look for video footage of such comments which violate the rules," he said.

The Election Commission has already issued showcause notices against two Trinamool leaders - Anubrata Mandal and Abdur Rezzak Mollah - and CPI(M) MP Md Salim for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.
