Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday alleged that 13.5 crore votes had been deleted in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and called it a conspiracy to strip 15 to 20 per cent of voters of their franchise and hand the BJP a majority on its own.
Addressing Congress leaders and workers at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi before the INDIA bloc rally at Ramlila Maidan, he said the Election Commission was acting at the Union government's behest and that the BJP had used similar revisions after winning Bihar, Maharashtra and West Bengal.
He alleged that trains arranged to bring about 15,000 people from Telangana to Delhi were cancelled, and that party workers reached the capital anyway.
Invoking the Ramayana, Revanth likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Ravana and the Congress cadre to a "Vanara Sena", saying the army of vanaras would defeat him.
He also said the Centre had sought to amend the Constitution and end reservations, and accused the Prime Minister of targeting Dalits, Adivasis and women after voters denied the BJP a 400-seat mandate in 2024.
The BJP dismissed the rally. Telangana BJP president Ramchandar Rao called it a "flop show" and said the Opposition had claimed about 10 lakh people would attend. He also questioned the choice of November 1, the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
