Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has erected over 500 metres of fencing to protect 78 acres of disputed government land at Guttala Begumpet in Serilingampally mandal of Rangareddy district, preventing further encroachments.

The action was taken on Friday following a request from revenue officials, who sought the agency's intervention to maintain the existing status of the property in accordance with the Telangana High Court's orders.

The land, located in Survey No. 63 of Guttala Begumpet village, has been at the centre of an ownership dispute. According to officials, some individuals have been claiming ancestral ownership of the property and allegedly selling plots to others. Meanwhile, residential structures have come up on a portion of the land, while some individuals have also constructed compound walls around certain areas, apparently to establish control.

The ownership dispute had reached the Telangana High Court, which issued status quo orders concerning the property. However, despite the court's directions, plot sales and fresh construction activities were reportedly continuing in the disputed survey number, raising concerns among revenue officials over further encroachments.

Against this backdrop, revenue officials approached HYDRAA and requested it to take measures to protect the land and ensure that its existing status was maintained until the dispute was resolved.

Acting on the request, HYDRAA officials erected more than 500 metres of fencing across the disputed land on Friday in the presence of revenue officials. The move is aimed at preventing further unauthorised occupation and safeguarding the government property while the ownership dispute remains pending.
