Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) seized 13 unauthorised motors connected directly to drinking water pipelines in its Shamshabad zone on Wednesday.
The board warned that such connections reduce pressure and disrupt supply to other households of their share of water, depriving consumers of their share of drinking water.
The board's vigilance team carried out special inspections at RB Nagar in Kotwalguda ward, under Division 8. The operation began at 11 am, and officials identified and removed all 13 illegally installed motors.
The Water Board said that attaching motors directly to supply pipelines lowers pressure across the distribution network. This can prevent other consumers from receiving an adequate supply and disrupts the equitable distribution of drinking water, particularly for households that rely on the public system.
The board said special inspections will continue across the area to curb the practice. It also cautioned that action would be taken against anyone violating the prescribed rules, stressing the need to protect the regular supply of drinking water to all consumers.
