Hyderabad: The Telangana government has reduced the price of the Metro-RTC Common Pass, bringing down the monthly pass from ₹8,500 to ₹4,000 and the daily pass from ₹400 to ₹275.
The revised fares will come into effect from November 8, Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar announced.
The revised monthly pass will help commuters save ₹4,500, while daily pass users will save ₹125. The decision was taken on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to reduce the financial burden on commuters and make public transport more affordable.
Under the revised monthly pass structure, ₹3,000 will be allocated towards Metro Rail travel and ₹1,000 towards Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) services. Commuters can make a maximum of 50 single Metro trips during the month, while there will be no restrictions on travel in RTC buses.
The daily Common Pass will cost ₹275, comprising ₹200 for Metro Rail travel and ₹75 for RTC bus services. It will allow four single journeys a day.
The Metro-RTC Common Pass was launched on October 2, 2026, by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar to integrate Hyderabad Metro Rail and TGSRTC city bus services through a single travel pass.
At the time of its launch, the daily pass was priced at ₹400, with ₹300 allocated for Metro travel and ₹100 for RTC services. The monthly pass cost ₹8,500, comprising ₹7,000 for Metro Rail and ₹1,500 for RTC buses.
The initial pricing had raised concerns among commuters, particularly office-goers, students and regular public transport users, who felt the fares were expensive. The revised rates are expected to make the integrated travel facility more affordable and encourage greater use of public transport.
Announcing the fare reduction as a Diwali gift to the people of Telangana, Ponnam Prabhakar said the government had taken the decision on the directions of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. He said the government was committed to reducing commuting expenses, making public transport more accessible and providing financial relief to ordinary people.
