Finding a role of the social media in Thursday's brutal killing by the mob, Nagaland CM TR Zeliang and Home Minister Y Patton on Saturday issued strong warning to those who have been trying to spread false rumours and libelous comments in an attempt to stir up communal feeling and public unrest by using social networking sites. The warning came two day after a mob broke into the Central Jail, Dimapur and took out a rape accused and brutally thrashed him to death in Nagaland's commercial hub Dimapur on Thursday. It may be mentioned here that social media like the Facebook had played a role in the Thursday's incident. While the girl filed the rape allegation on February 24 and Khan was arrested the next day and sent to judicial custody, a section of people have been sending messages over the social media and instigated the people to unite and take such a crime.
