Hi-tech suits to work
Your workout clothes could see a big change this year because of the technologically advanced custom-made suits that are being invented to ensure optimum results for the wearer.
A number of wearables are now available such as the Sony watch, Moto watch, the Apple watch or the Pebble watch. These smartwatches are here to give tough competition to smartphones, and are the perfect workout gadgets. Compatible with iOS/Android, these are the latest fashionable workout gadgets to watch out for! You’re not doing it right without these!
look what’s trending
There were some trends that were flagged off in 2015, but it will be in this year that they are expected to become big
Ola! motifs: Indians have a lot in common with Spanish, in terms of skin colour and hair colour. The Spanish florals that rocked the ramps in 2015 are sure to make an appearance on the streets of India soon.
Drama on lips: Rihanna rocked it, lupita Nyong’o carried it off. We can expect that it will be seen on an Indian red carpet pretty soon. The lip colour could be anything unusual like green or black, or a shiny metallic colour.
Bling with technology
You can forget about the Google glasses which lacked aesthetic. Now with the help of 3D printers, bracelets, rings, necklaces, pendants, earrings, etc. can also be made using advanced technology. Celebrities like Katy Perry and Nicole Scherzinger (with her tweeting dress) have already made appearances in these dresses and Indian celebs will surely follow soon.
This year will also be about wearing technology and gadgets (and we do not mean Amitabh Bachchan in the song Saara Zamaana). There will be a rise in wearables that are more chic than geek. The technology that is leading the way is 3D printing, which is faster and cheaper.
Fashion Buzzwords
Fashion has always been associated with glamour, divas and attitudes of designers that have taken the world by storm. However, this year, the catwalk is all about two buzz words —
nModesty: To slouch, wear hoodies and trainers, and carry a paper shopping bag is a strict no-no in the fashion world. But this year it will become trending.
nHumble: It is a word that is alien to designers whose focus is on flamboyancy. This year, designers world over will be focussing on clothes rather than fanfare because of the success of an unknown designer
Alessandro Michele under Gucci brand.

Here’s how designers have planned to dress up the year
IT WIll BE ABOUT INDIAN COUTURE
At Manish Malhotra, 2016 will be a year of Indian pride. The focus will be on reviving heritage fabrics with modern silhouettes and detailing. Think voluminous, gown-likelehenga-skirts crafted out of handwoven silks; structured tunics and blouses adorned with intricate, centuries-old embroidery techniques. The colour palette will be vibrant- demure gold, a burst of pink or elegant tones of blue; much like the varied moods of a confident, modern Indian woman
— Manish Malhotra
GET SET FOR SHINY & METAllIC
I see a lot of earthy colours along with sophisticated bling. The year will see lots of longer silhouettes. Shine and metallics will also be big, as will abstract motifs. I see shirts and shirt-dresses making a comeback

TIME TO BE CAlM WITH COlOURS
With everyone having front row access to global trends via social media, the Indian fashion-lover is keen to adapt these to her personality and lifestyle. At AM:PM, we’ve always designed for the woman of substance — a mother, wife, daughter, professional, best friend all rolled into one. In keeping with this, the colour palettes, cuts and styles will be big on versatility. Our focus will be on outfits that can be worn from day through night; which are light and adapt to the movement of a woman’s body and which accent a woman’s personality.
At a time when going slow and mindful living are making a much required comeback, we feel 2016 will be about calm colours like custard, coral, melon pink with salmon undertones. Prints will adapt to the modern woman’s individuality and strength with vibrant, colour-blocked inspirations. Blouses with cut-out shoulders; long, breezy tunics and wide-legged trousers — easy to wear, flowing silhouettes with layers will stay in the New Year.
— Ankur and Priyanka Modi (AM:PM)
CONTEMPORARY, TOUCH & MOOD
In 2016, comfort and wear-ability will play a key role in defining fashion trends. The emphasis will be on separates such as crop tops, pants, tunics, kurtas and skirts which can be mixed and matched to create a distinct look. Revival of Indian textiles and embroidery along with a contemporary twist will also play a big role this year. The colour palette will be effervescent, ranging from blue, gold, red, pink to white, ivory and pastel shades, reflecting the individuality of the modern Indian woman. The design aesthetics will comprise of both subtle and the dramatic
— Tina Tahiliani Parikh, Executive Director, Ensemble
YEAR OF SIlHOUETTES
Retro silhouettes with a modern variation will be the big fashion trend. Be it breezy dresses with ruffles and off-shoulders, blouses with bell-sleeves, voluminous skirts and pants, the swinging 60s and 70s are all set to make a comeback in the new year. Shades of teal, shocking pink and nude will rule the colour palette
