Theatre actor RAHUl SHARMA who made his debut on the big screen with Awesome Mausam, tells PRAKRITI ROY about the film and his love for theatre
What is the film aboutIJ
It is a contemporary romantic love story between a Hindu guy and Muslim girl. It is set in lucknow. It deals with issues of inter-religion marriage.
How did you land the roleIJ
I was called for an audition back on September, 2013. That time I had already done a couple of cameos on TV shows like Sasural Simar Ka and Bandini. It was five months after that that I got a call saying that I have been cast.
Tell us something of your theatre experience.
I have done theatre for the past six years in Mumbai. However, I wasn’t doing a lot of acting there. I worked on plays like Piya Behrupiya not just as an actor but also as a musician. I have also travelled extensively with them.
Was Bollywood always your ultimate goalIJ
I think everyone who joins theatre initially has the aim of doing films. But while doing it, I have started loving theatre a lot. I would like to strike a balance between doing theatre and films.
Theatre or filmsIJ
There is a certain thrill in doing theatre Theatre taught me to observe and absorb characters. But right now, I want to focus on doing films.
