The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is now looking at a new controversy, this time involving its leader Kumar Vishwas. A woman volunteer of the AAP has filed a written complaint of molestation against the senior party leader Kumar Vishwas at New Delhi’s Chanakyapuri police station. The woman in her complaint said that Vishwas, in his recent act in a luxury hotel in South Delhi, touched her inapporiately. Police officials of Chanakyapuri police station said that they have forwarded her complaint to Sarojini Nagar police station for further actions as the hotel falls in its jurisdiction. The woman had earlier complained with the Delhi Commission for Women.

On August 5, she sent the complaint to the SHO of Chanakyapuri police station, and also sent a copy to Delhi Police Commissioner Bhim Sain Bassi and National Commission for Women.

Earlier, an FIR was also filed after the woman complained that she was being defamed by AAP workers. The FIR however had not named Vishwas. The matter is being investigated by Nand Nagari police station in East Delhi.

In the complaint with police, the woman, a resident of north east Delhi’s Sundar Nagri, claims that Vishwas had been molesting her since they first met in April 2014. “On seeing me, he put his hand over my waist and pushed me towards him,” the woman stated in her complaint. Vishwas complimented her good work for the party and allegedly told her that he would need her in Vishwas contested the 2014 lok Sabha election as an AAP candidate from Amethi, but lost to Rahul Gandhi.

She claims Vishwas was also at the railway station when she reached there for participating the party campaigning. She said there also he tried come closer to her and made several attempts of forcing himself on her.

In March, the woman met Vishwas at a south Delhi’s luxury Hotel. She claims Vishwas used offensive language to suggest that she would have been an integral part of the party if she sought favours from him. “Thereafter, I was very much terrified and afraid of raising my voice against the advances of Vishwas. Because of the behaviour, I stopped working for the AAP and visiting their office,” the woman added.

As the hotel falls under Sarojini Nagar police station due to which the complaint has been forwarded to Sarojini Nagar police station. Earlier in July, an FIR was also filed after the woman complained that she was being threatened and defamed by AAP workers.

Earlier in May, Viswas and his wife were summoned by DCW after a party volunteer approached it claiming that “false rumours” of his having illicit relationship with her were ruining her reputation and that he should come forward to clarify. The proceedings of the previous case against the AAP leader was closed by the Delhi Commission for Women(DCW) on Friday. The DCW has handed over the matter to the police to probe and take ‘action as per law’, the Delhi High Court was informed on Friday.

AAP recently found itself in trouble after its member and former Delhi law Minister created a flutter by saying at the floor of the House of Delhi Assembly that “beautiful women” would be able to go out at midnight provided AAP government takes over policing system in the national Capital. His statement was expunged from the record by Delhi Assembly.
