V-C to clarify on new DU courses sans preparation

PNS

In its continued attempt to tighten the noose around Delhi University (DU) Vice Chancellor (V-C) Dinesh Singh, the HRD Ministry has sought an explanation from him for proposing new online courses (MOOCS) without doing any groundwork. The Ministry has also sought details from the VC about the University's plans to introduce the choice-based credit transfer (CBCT) scheme from the coming academic session. The Ministry had recently directed all Central Universities to implement the system from the said period.

The varsity’s academic council had cleared implementation of the scheme for the coming session this week. The explanations have been sought to avoid any confusion over the issues as it had happened with regard to the FYUP programme last year. The UGC too had laid down a set of guidelines for the universities and asked them to implement the scheme which include semesterisation of the curriculum, restructuring of the syllabi in the form of module, standardisation of examination and switching over to the grading system.
